Early Life
Brock Lesnar was born in Webster, South Dakota, USA, on July 12, 1977. He had a rural upbringing on his parents’ dairy farm in Webster, where his mom Stephanie and dad Richard managed the farm. Brock has two older brothers named Troy and Chad, and a younger sister named Brandi. Their family has ancestral ties to Germany and Poland.
When Brock was 17 years old, he joined the Army National Guard. However, his desire to work with explosives was deemed unsafe because he had red-green color blindness. As a result, he was assigned a desk job in the military.
After failing a computer typing test, he was fired from the Army National Guard. Later on, he found employment with a construction company.
During his time at Webster High School, Brock played football. He also participated in amateur wrestling and achieved a notable accomplishment by placing third in the state championships during his senior year.
Career
After achieving success in amateur wrestling at Bismarck State College and the University of Minnesota, Lesnar joined WWE in 2000.
He started in WWE’s developmental promotion called Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he teamed up with Shelton Benjamin and became the OVW Southern Tag Team Champion three times.
In 2002, Lesnar made his debut on the WWE main roster, and within five months, at the age of 25, he won the WWE Championship, becoming the youngest champion in the history of the title.
After being defeated by Eddie Guerrero at No Way Out in 2004 and having a match against Goldberg at WrestleMania XX, Lesnar decided to leave WWE and try his luck in the National Football League (NFL).
Although he was initially named as a defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings, he was ultimately cut before the 2004 season began.
In 2005, Lesnar made a comeback to professional wrestling, but this time he joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). In his very first match there, he achieved a significant victory by winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
After participating in the K-1 World Grand Prix in 2006, Lesnar expressed his interest in joining Hero’s, a mixed martial arts league under K-1.
Later that same year, Lesnar ventured into the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). He signed with Hero’s and had his first MMA fight in June 2007 against Min-Soo Kim, which he won. Following this, in October of the same year, Lesnar joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
In 2012, Lesnar returned to professional wrestling, rejoining WWE after an eight-year absence. Two years later, at WrestleMania XXX, he ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak.
Lesnar made several returns to WWE, including attacking Mr. McMahon, engaging in rivalries with various wrestlers, and participating in events like the Royal Rumble.
On the April 3, 2023 episode of Raw, Lesnar assaulted Cody Rhodes, turning heel for the first time since WrestleMania 36 in 2020. This was reportedly due to Lesnar’s dissatisfaction with his position on the WrestleMania card. Rhodes challenged Lesnar to a match at Backlash, which Rhodes ultimately won.
