Khabib Abdulmanapovich Nurmagomedov was born in Makhachkala, Russia, on September 20, 1988.

His dad’s family had moved from Sildi to Kirovaul, and there they turned the bottom floor of their two-story building into a gym.

Khabib grew up with his brothers, sisters, and cousins in that house. He became interested in martial arts when he watched students training in the gym. When Khabib was just 9 years old, he even fought a bear as part of his training.

Career

Khabib Nurmagomedov began his MMA career in 2008. He had his first professional fight and won four times in under a month. He then became the champion of the Atrium Cup tournament by defeating three opponents in Moscow.
