Early Life

Born in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Samuel Eto’o Fils grew up in a less privileged area Mvog-Ada in the Cameroonian capital.

At the young age of 13 and a half, Eto’o started making a name for himself as a striker in the second national division. He began by scoring a few goals with the Cameroonian Cadets before surpassing their performance.

Surprisingly, at just 15 years old, he traveled to France to explore opportunities with a European football club.


Samuel Eto’o began playing soccer when he was 16 years old. He initially joined Real Madrid, but he faced tough competition from more experienced players, so he went on loan to different teams for a while. Eventually, in 2000, he joined Mallorca and scored 70 goals for them.
